Freudenberg’s MicronAir air filters are now featured in three Nissan lightweight trucks—the Xterra, Pathfinder and Frontier. The cabin air filters remove harmful particles such as tailpipe emissions, pet dander and mold spores, from the air entering and circulating in the passenger compartment.

“Studies show that the air in the passenger cabin of a vehicle can be up to six times more polluted than the air outside and that most pollutants cannot be seen or smelled,” said Barry Kellar, vice president and general manager, Freudenberg Nonwovens Filtration Division.  “If a vehicle is not equipped with a cabin air filter, those particles are being inhaled unknowingly by its occupants.

“While the effects of such particles on one’s health may not be immediately noticeable—such as sneezing, coughing and other allergic reactions— they can intensify over time,” he added. “The same logic that makes home HVAC filters a good idea and standard equipment in new residential construction applies to a vehicle’s passenger compartment as well.”

Through Freudenberg Nonwovens’ worldwide resources, micronAir cabin air filters are custom developed for vehicle platforms for all of the major automakers. MicronAir filters are installed on two-thirds of the vehicles manufactured worldwide equipped with filter systems. These filters exhibit high particle and gas removal efficiency, reduced system pressure restriction and extended service life.

In addition to the health benefits, the filter extends the life of the car’s HVAC system and protects it from malfunction by reducing system
wear, corrosion, fouling and clogging, according to reports.
